Former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady was the subject of a roast on Netflix on Sunday night. The event drew notable individuals that were heavily involved with and played important roles in his career. These individuals included former head coach Bill Belichick, tight end Rob Gronkowski, and wide receiver Julian Edelman.
In addition to these former Patriots, comedians Nikki Glaser and Kevin Hart took part in poking fun at the seven-time Super Bowl Champion and future Hall of Famer. Of course, Brady was not the only target of the jokes made during the roast. Belichick mocked Gronkowski’s skills as a NFL analyst and several jokes were made at the expense of Brady’s most infamous former teammate.
Former New England Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez Is Mocked During the Tom Brady Roast
During the hours-long event, several of the people Brady associated with were also the targets of jokes told by the celebrity panel. One of these was convicted murder Aaron Hernandez, who played for the Patriots from 2010 until his arrest in 2013.
After being convicted of the murder of Odin Lloyd, Hernandez was tried for the double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. After being acquitted of this crime, Hernandez was found dead by suicide in his jail cell. He had hung himself.
During the Brady roast, there were several jokes made at Hernandez’s expense that were focused on the nature of his death.
Julian Edelman, making a joke about the size of male genitalia, asked, “You know who was hung? Aaron Hernandez. Think about it.”
Glaser also made reference to Hernandez having a ring around his neck.
While there were some uncomfortable laughs at these comments, one person took serious exception to them.
