After a busy day of flipping and putting the name to the dotted line throughout the country, an unexpected opportunity arose for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The top rated offensive tackle prospect had made the media rounds after making his initial decision, and looked to be trying to bring other talent along with him. However, sitting here now, it’s after signing day, and there remains a glimmer of hope that the Nebraska Cornhuskers will be able to add an instant solidifying piece to the offensive line.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Initially Not In Consideration
Originally from Washington D.C., everything seemed lined up for Jordan Seaton to go join one of the great icons of his favorite team in Deion Sanders. A Dallas Cowboys fan since childhood, Jordan Seaton had originally left out the Colorado Buffaloes from his top 6 list, and shocked many people when he announced on Undisputed that he would be playing football in Boulder next year.
But as National Signing Day came and gone, Jordan Seaton is still feeling out the process of this crucial life decision. Speaking late in the day with Hayes Fawcett, from On3 on Instagram Live, he shared where he currently is in the process:
Just thinking and praying on it right now , I don’t really have a step for step.
Why He Would Be A Good Fit With The Nebraska Cornhuskers
It would be irresponsible to speculate why Jordan Seaton is now reconsidering his initial decision. During his most recent comments, he singled out Dylan Raiola as someone that had reached out to him. If he were to consider the Nebraska Cornhuskers, these are the reasons why he would fit in with a Matt Rhule locker room.
At the time when he announced his decision on Undisputed, he gave this reasoning:
Everything that comes easy is nothing worth having. It’s not going to be easy, but we’re going to get the guys that we need to get. And we will play for a national championship.
Then on the Rich Eisen Show, he elaborated on why he did not necessarily want to play for an established contender:
I didn’t want to go somewhere and just be another guy. I wanted to make history and start from the ground up. Your mother’s cooking starts from scratch, best ever. You start from scratch, do it good, becomes something, now it becomes a tradition.
Many of the same pulling factors that drew Jordan Seaton to the Colorado Buffaloes, apply to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. It will ultimately come down to the individual conversations that he has with coaches and players. If he feels that the people surrounding him are committed to winning football, then he will be more than happy to sacrifice and work in a genuine team atmosphere.
At this point, it’s doubtful anyone, not even Jordan Seaton, knows where he will be playing next year. Whether it’s for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, or his local Maryland Terrapins, one thing is for certain. Whenever he decides to hang up the cleats, and hopefully it’s very far down the road, his next calling in life may be in broadcasting entertainment. Listening to how he spoke with the hosts on live television, and how he interacted with Hayes Fawcett (when he was able to) he has the charisma and presence to do well in a media role.
Hopefully he is able to find the best situation for himself soon.
