Fans of the Nebraska Cornhuskers were looking for their team play in a bowl game this year, and placed all of the collective hopes of state into one sophomore this past season. Due to injuries, the quarterback from Arizona was asked to save the season from a third string back up roll. Showing great heart and determination, there is little doubt that his next college of choice will be able to appreciate his talent and tenacity, just as fans of the Nebraska Cornhuskers were able to.
Nebraska Cornhuskers QB Entering Transfer Portal
Sean Callahan first reported on social media that Chubba Purdy would be entering the transfer portal. In what is shaping to be a young quarterback room of developing true freshman talent, Purdy appears to be looking for a more guaranteed starting spot to finish out his college career.
Always a class act, he fought his way through adversity while here as the Nebraska Cornhuskers ultimately ended their season 5-7. Battling a groin injury since spring, when he did get on the field, he showed why so many were so high on him as a prospect, and why now, he will likely have no trouble of finding a college football home.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Moment Of The Year
Just moments into a critical away game, in Madison, against the Wisconsin Badgers, Purdy flashed all of the on field attributes that make him a player to continue to watch for at his next stop.
Near midfield, he evaded instant pressure by rolling to his right. Keeping his eyes downfield, nothing came open, as he began to take off, the field appeared to open up like the parting seas. Accelerating past the better positioned defenders, Purdy turned on his “after burner” speed, for the 55 yard score. And as Coach Matt Rhule would later point to, aware of the turnover issues that had plagued the Nebraska Cornhuskers throughout the season, protected the football with a high, cross armed grip, just to make sure that a Wisconsin Badger defender was not going to knock it away.

In that moment, every fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers felt that the program had been turned around, and that the team would be going bowling with an additional game to spare. While the rest of the season did not pan out that way, Purdy provided one of the happiest moments of the season, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers will be forever grateful for everything that he gave to the program.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Possible Destination Spot
According to that same report from Callahan, Purdy has interest from Boise State at this moment. Aside from the fact that a former Nebraska Cornhuskers staff member is now a member in the same role, this would be a good fit.
The Boise State team is currently slated to start an upcoming sophomore quarterback, who to date has only started in their most recent bowl game against UCLA. While a developing talent, Purdy would be a more proven option at this point, and fit in better with what their offense is trying to do.
The Boise State Broncos, have one of the best all around players at running back in Ashton Jeanty. With Purdy’s ability to throw the ball, and move the chains with his legs, their combined skillset could be a dangerous combination to look out for in the RPO game.
Where ever Purdy ends up playing, he’ll always be considered part of the family of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and is very likely to find success at his next destination.
