Sean Payton made waves this week when he called the coaching job of Nathaniel Hackett one of the worst in NFL history. Hackett, now with the New York Jets, had many players come to his defense. Aaron Rodgers called out Payton telling him to keep Hackett’s name out of his mouth. The former Broncos coach has now broken his silence on the situation.
Nathaniel Hackett Fires Back At Sean Payton
When asked whether he thought Payton broke a code, he responded simply with, “I do.” He went on to call out Payton for not calling to apologize. Payton said in a statement after the incident that he did but apparently Hackett has not received the call. This is a situation that has very quickly gotten out of control. Payton apparently got used to working at FOX where he could say things like this in his analysis. For NFL fans, it makes the Week 5 matchup way more interesting.
Get Ready For Week 5
Already, the matchup would’ve been one to watch. Now, there is more fuel on the fire. I would bet that Rodgers and the Jets’ offense is going to be salivating for this one. If they can go out and show Payton’s team just how good of a coach Hackett is, that would be a pretty definitive statement on Hackett’s coaching prowess. These types of feuds are what can help establish a rivalry that is always good for the sport.
I didn’t have a Sean Payton and Nathaniel Hackett feud on my 2023 NFL bingo card. Week 5 cannot get here soon enough.
