Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered an Achilles injury in the 24-10 victory against the Green Bay Packers. Cousins suffered the injury in the fourth quarter while he was going through his throwing progressions and he landed awkwardly on his leg and immediately limped over to the sideline in a ton of pain. He is now expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 season with an Achilles injury.

Minnesota Vikings Fans React
Cousins will get an MRI to confirm the injury, but it seems pretty obvious that he will miss significant time. Vikings fans are in shambles due to the news, especially since the team looked like they were just beginning to find their stride. NFL Twitter exploded with reactions from fans sending prayers to Cousins and saying that the season is officially over.
With Cousins prolly having a season ending injury how’s everyone’s best ball leagues?

I actually feel awful for Kirk Cousins :/ never fun to watch injuries even with your biggest rival.

Very strange feeling in the Vikings locker room. Players were at a loss for words over Cousins’ injury, some emotional. They were trying to talk about moving forward but they’ve basically never been without their QB1

Definitely looks similar to Aaron Rodgers injury. Hope Cousins is okay pic.twitter.com/9q741knwrk

Kirk Cousins Injury
A lot of fans are comparing this injury to the one New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered in week one, which was also confirmed to be a season-ending Achilles injury. Cousins has never missed a game due to an injury in his entire career, and now will probably miss the entire season. This will certainly hurt any playoff hopes that the Vikings had this year since the team’s momentum will likely fade away as the season progresses.
The Vikings have dealt with some huge injuries this season to their star players. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson has missed a good chunk of time after he was injured in week 5 this season. Now it looks like they will be without their franchise quarterback for the rest of the year, which is horrible timing for the quarterback.
New Quarterback?
This can also mean that the Vikings can pursue a new quarterback before the trade deadline on Tuesday. If they want to have a hot at the postseason, it would be vital for the team to certainly go shopping for one. This can also mean that they will trade away Cousins at some point since he has received some heavy criticism all season long despite having one of the best stat lines in the league.
The Vikings are now sitting at a 4-4 record after today’s win. They will face the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints in their next two games, which will prove to be a tough test for the team. Cousins is expected to get an MRI on Monday which will confirm what everyone seems to already know.
