The Miami Dolphins‘ star receiver Tyreek Hill continues to deal with the after math of his house burning down as he is just about to face his former team the Kansas City Chiefs. On Thursday, Hill answered questions about his house fire and compared it to what a player must do on the field to bounce back from adversity.
“Right now, it’s just a transition for us,” he said of his family, per the team’s official transcript. “But that’s what players do. We find a way to bounce back. That’s what life is, ups and downs. You have things happen and you have to find a way to adjust to adversity. So we just had a slight adversity and we’re going to find a way to face it. And that’s what we’re doing now.”
Hill also mentioned that all of his family was after the fire which is the most important thing. One would think that with Hill dealing with all of this that he’d be a bit distracted for this playoff matchup but Hill denied any of that saying:
“Nah. Nah, for real,” he said. “I feel like there are crazier things in the world going on. The way that I look at it is I’m not the only person in the world having a bad day. There are other people having bad days. God has blessed me with great things and I have a great support system with teammates and family and stuff like that.
Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill Trying To Look At “The Positive Side” Of Things
Hill is remaining positive about what he is going through and is maintaining a strong mindset that although a house fire can be very distracting he is remaining as focused as ever. He was quoted saying:
I just always try to look at the positive side of things. So that’s been my whole approach throughout all of this. Although it sucks to see rooms destroyed and everything that you worked for destroyed — it sucks — but my main thing was health, making sure my kids are alright. And yeah, this gives me and my wife a chance to get closer.”
It is clear why Tyreek Performs to such a high level with the Dolphins and with his previous team The Kansas City Chiefs. He is incredibly mentally strong in dealing with this and has the perfect mindset for such a sucky situation.
This is the first time Tyreek will return to his former teams stadium in Kansas City and there is a lot of pressure on this Dolphins team to not be one and done in the playoffs again. They will need Hill to perform at an all time high if they want to go into Kansas City in the freezing cold to win this game. Tyreek however is not putting to much pressure on himself saying:
“Just another game man,” he said. “I’m looking forward to it. Obviously, I’m very excited for it. I’m not looking forward to the cold, but to see old faces again and play inside of Arrowhead is going to be a special moment for myself. It’s going to be awesome.”
It will be far from just another game for Hill and it will be emotional to go back to his old stomping grounds for the team he won the Super Bowl for.
