Jalen Ramsey making his Miami Dolphins debut was something fans had been waiting for, and it was well worth the wait.
He had an interception in his first game as a Dolphin, but in last Sunday’s 20-13 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, he added two more and recorded a tackle, earning himself AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 11.
Miami Dolphins CB is Shining
This is the second time in Ramsey’s career that he’s been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week; The first coming from his performance on Dec. 24, 2016 as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars where he returned an interception for a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans.
This time, his first interception came in the third quarter when he undercut a pass on a Raiders opening play, and was able to get Miami the ball back, which then scored a field goal and put Miami up 17-13.
The second one game with just 30 seconds left to play in a one-score game, Ramsey picked off Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell in the end zone to help the Dolphins up their record to 7-3 and hold the top spot in the AFC East.
This was the third multi-interception game for Ramsey in his career, and his second in his last four games played (going back to last season). Ramsey became the first Dolphins player since Xavien Howard in December of 2018 to have multiple receptions in a single game.
Jalen Ramsey is the fourth Miami Dolphins player to receive Player of the Week after quarterback Tua Tagovailoa received AFC Offensive Player of the Week in Week 1 against the LA Chargers, running back De’Von Achane was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week in Week 3 against Denver, and running back Raheem Mostert was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week in Week 6 against Carolina.
The last time the Dolphins made a feat like this was in 2020 where they had three AFC Special Teams Players of the Week in Jason Sanders (Week 5 against San Francisco), Jakeem Grant (Week 8 against the Rams), Jason Sanders again (Week 17 against Las Vegas), and one AFC Defensive Player of the Week in Kyle Van Noy (Week 13 against Cincinnati).
