Each week, Mike McDaniel’s Miami Dolphins continue to show everyone in the NFL why they’re the best team.
The NFL announced on Wednesday that Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert has earned the honors of AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his stellar performance against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Mostert is the Second Dolphins RB to Earn this Honor This Season
This is the first time that Mostert has received Player of the Week honors and is the second Miami Dolphins running back to earn this award. De’Von Achane, who is currently on injured reserve, earned the honors back in Week 3 in the Dolphins’ dominate 70-20 win over the Denver Broncos.

Mostert scored three touchdowns in the Dolphins’ 42-21 comeback victory against Carolina. He totaled 17 carries for 115 yards and caught three passes for 17 yards and a touchdown. The running back was also the only player in the NFL to score three touchdowns this week and is the only one to record both a rushing and receiving score.
He also helped Miami tally up 162 rushing yards, the fifth game in row that Miami has had a 100-yard rusher and rushed for more than 140 yards as a team. Mostert also passed Bo Jackson as the league’s all-time yards per carry leader with 5.43 yards per carry, now that’s something to brag about.
He was shocked when he learned that he had earned the title of Player of the Week:
“Honestly, I didn’t think it was me,” Mostert said. “I thought it was going to be Tua because he’s been playing so well, and he’s been doing unbelievable things. I believe he was Player of the Month, so I thought he would get that. I’m sitting next to Cedrick Wilson Jr., and he was like, ‘Heem, it might be you’ I’m like, ‘Nah, it’s Tua. It’s got to be Tua. He’s playing unbelievable ball right now,’ and then it turned out to be me, so I was excited about that.”
Eyes on the Prize
Mostert has scored a touchdown in five of the Dolphins’ six games this season. His 11 touchdowns and 66 points lead the league. He’s additionally also set career highs with nine rushing touchdowns, 11 total touchdowns and we still have 11 games left to go.
He’s set out to beat LaDanian Tomlin’s single-season record of 31, and just to have his name mentioned besides a great like Tomlin was something he was super excited about:
“I’m fairly familiar with that record and it would be an honor to even get close to that. I know I’m in a little hot streak right now, but LT’s record, man, that’s unbelievable…I remember that was his MVP year, and growing up watching his tape and that highlight, man, it’s just remarkable.”
This is the third AFC Offensive Player of the Week title for a Miami Dolphins player. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa earned the honors in Week 1 after the win against the Chargers, and as mentioned before, Achane in Week 3.
The last time Miami won three POTW awards in the same season was back in 2016 when RB Jay Ajayi won three times and QB Matt Moore won once.
