The LSU Tigers posted monster numbers on offense this season, scoring a Division I-best 46.4 points per game. Quarterback Jayden Daniels was electric, tallying 50 total touchdowns en route to winning the Heisman Trophy Award. Naturally, LSU landed a quarterback transfer on Monday. Per On3 Sports, Vanderbilt Commodores transfer quarterback AJ Swann will join the Tigers next season.

Swann entered the transfer portal in late November. He spent the past two seasons competing in the SEC, the same conference in which the LSU football program resides.
AJ Swann: Career with Vanderbilt Commodores
Swann, a former three-star prospect in the class of 2022, spent the past two seasons with the Vanderbilt Commodores. Swann played in nine games as a freshman, throwing for 1,274 yards and ten touchdowns against two picks. He completed 58% of his passes. However, with the departure of fellow gunslinger Mike Wright, Swann became the unquestioned starter in 2023. Unfortunately, an elbow injury derailed his sophomore campaign, and he started only six games this year. The six-foot-three signal-caller finished the 2023 season with 12 passing touchdowns and seven picks. He also added a score through the ground. Swann’s best game came in the season opener against the Hawaii Warriors, throwing for 258 yards and three scores with no picks.
LSU Tigers: QB Depth Chart Headed into the 2024 Season
Wright will compete with Garrett Nussmeier for the starting gig next year. Nussmeier, a former four-star recruit from Flower Mound, Texas, committed to the LSU Tigers football program in 2021. He has thrown for eight touchdowns against six picks across three seasons. Nussmeier should get the start in the Tigers’ bowl game against the Wisconsin Badgers, with Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels opting out. Daniels threw 40 touchdowns against four picks this season while running for 1,134 yards and ten scores.
The Tigers also have freshman phenom Rickie Collins in the quarterback room. The former top prospect played sparingly this season but, like Daniels, can make plays with his legs. The LSU Tigers also landed a commitment from quarterback Colin Hurley of Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. Hurley is the 22nd-ranked quarterback per 247Sports.
