Earlier this month, the College Football Hall of Fame announced their 2025 ballot, featuring legendary head coaches Urban Meyer and Nick Saban, among others. Notably, former longtime LSU football bench boss Les Miles was absent from the ballot for the second straight year. Of the national championship coaches from 2000 to 2009, Miles, Miami’s Larry Coker, and USC’s Pete Carroll are the only ones not inducted or being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Outside Miami, Coker struggled, while Carroll never met the ten-season threshold. However, Miles is on the outside looking in after being vacated wins by LSU after an embezzlement scandal, resulting in him falling short of the .600 winning percentage necessary to make the hall.
On Monday, reports surfaced that Miles filed a lawsuit against his former school, arguing that the vacated wins by LSU caused him to miss out on consideration regarding the College Football Hall of Fame (which it did by dipping his career winning percentage under the required mark). Miles claims that the vacated wins, 37 from 2012 to 2015, are his and not for LSU to take away. Miles, one of the most prominent head coaches of the 21st century, earned quite a reaction from social media upon the revelation of his lawsuit against LSU.
College Football Fans: React to Former LSU Football HC Les Miles’ Lawsuit
In 2023, the LSU football program removed 37 wins from head coach Les Miles after an investigation concluded that the bench boss paid the family of former All-SEC offensive linemen and NFL player Vadal Alexander. The recruiting violations cost Miles numerous wins, and after a poor stint with the Kansas Jayhawks late in his occupation, he finished his coaching career with a 108-73 record, suitable for a .597 win percentage. Under his final win percentage, Miles is not eligible for consideration for the College Football Hall of Fame and has since filed a lawsuit against his former school.
After the revelation that Miles is preparing for a legal battle against his old school, college football fans flooded Twitter, also known as X, with various reactions, outside the embezzlement scandal, Miles also had a legal run-in with LSU in 2013 regarding his relationships with female students after several accusations came to light.
We LSU fans will be filing a counter lawsuit Les Miles for forcing fans to watch an offense with Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry run exclusively the I formation https://t.co/C4y95uCntW

That 3-18 record at Kansas certainly didn’t help

I think I speak for the entire fanbase and the institution when I say:
There needs to be a lawsuit filed on Les Miles for blowing the 2012 BCS National Championship game.

My brother in Christ, Les Miles, 2011 Alabama cost you the hall of fame, not LSU.

Les Miles: Storied College Coaching Career
From 2005 to 2016, Les Miles won seven bowl games with the LSU Tigers, withstanding vacant victories. He led the Tigers to an SEC Championship in his inaugural season, finishing with a Peach Bowl victory over the Miami Hurricanes. LSU and Miles again won double-digit games in 2006 before winning the BCS Championship circa 2007. LSU football returned to the BCS Championship in 2011, ultimately falling to the Alabama Crimson Tide. LSU won double-digit games in 2012 and 2013 before they steadily declined. After a 2-2 start to the 2016 season, LSU parted ways with Miles, promoting defensive line coach Ed Orgeron to interim head coach.
Before LSU, Miles spent five seasons coaching the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Ohio native posted a respectable 28-21 record during that span. However, he struggled in his post-LSU coaching career, going 3-18 in a two-year stint with the Kansas Jayhawks, including 0-9 during the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season. Kansas and Miles parted ways in the offseason due to the publicity of misconduct allegations against the head coach. Across 19 seasons, Miles won one title, the SEC twice, and earned numerous coach of the year awards in 2011.
