LSU had a night of their lives on Saturday when they pulled an upset win at home over Ole Miss, and when you pull a home upset, the fans go crazy and storm the field.
Last week, after Vanderbilt upset Alabama at home, their fans took the goalpost out and started walking it down the street in Nashville, which was an awesome scene.
Vanderbilt fans had no idea how to act because their team never gets to see big-time wins like that, but LSU has wins over top teams all the time. After their win over Ole Miss, fans stormed the field and ripped the goalposts out.
LSU Pays A Heavy Fine
Accroding to Outkick’s John Simmons LSU was fined for the goalposts being ripped out of the field. Simmons stated, “The conference fined LSU $250,000 for its fan’s unruly behavior, in accordance with its 2023 competition area policy. The high price is due to the fact that this is their second offense of the year, with the first being when fans rushed the court after a men’s basketball win in February.
Storming the field in college sports is one of the coolest scenes, but it’s probably best if the fans just act crazy without ripping goalposts from the field.
These schools need to be better at controlling field storming, and there have been many occasions when players and fans get into it.
LSU has now put itself in a position to make the playoffs if it can pull off a few more big-time wins over the next few weeks against Texas A&M and Alabama. The win over Ole Miss is huge since they will own the tiebreaker in the committee’s eyes if it comes down to those two teams at the end.
