The Los Angeles Rams have been unlucky with their tough schedule at the beginning of the year. With departing pieces from their Super Bowl run and a younger roster, the Los Angeles Rams were pleasantly surprised that this coaching staff was able to clinch a spot in the playoffs with one game to spare.
While there has been speculation and rumors surrounding the status of the head coach, a recent interview appears to ease any concerns for now.
Los Angeles Rams Coach Not Going Anywhere
In a sitdown interview with J.B Long and D’Marco Farr, Coach Sean McVay on The Coach McVay Show shared his intentions to come back next year, “no matter what”.
After pointing out that Coach McVay is within striking distance of being the all-time winningest Los Angeles Rams coach, the hosts joked and teased the need for Coach McVay to return to the show as a coach to chase the record, he responded with a simple:
That I can promise you.
With a potentially deep playoff run on the horizon, it looks like he will remain for at least one more team with this team. While anything can happen between now and the kickoff of the 2024 season, this is a telling statement.
Los Angeles Rams Coach Gearing Up For The Longhaul?
There is no reason to believe that the coach would be lying or making up a narrative for his upcoming status. If he wanted to keep his cards close to his chest then he could have engaged in the typical coach’s speak of being focused on the upcoming game or only being worried about the current season.
With how his team has been performing as of late, it’s easy to see why he would be excited to come back again.
When speaking of his defense, for example, Coach McVay explained, from an article in the Orange County Register, why he had faith in the full roster and not just the starters:
We’ve got a lot of different guys. Our safeties do such a great job of communicating, whether that’s Jordan Fuller or John Johnson, Quentin Lake’s ability to play all over.
When you hear Coach McVay talk he is excited about football, loves football, and enjoys every step of preparation in football. It was always going to be hard to envision him walking away, but it certainly would have been a shock.
Perhaps there was a slight fatigue, and dread of having to build up all over again, but with the recent emergence of the young talent on this roster, it appears to have reinvigorated him.
Los Angeles Rams Close Out Their Season
Everyone knows of the rookie run of Puka Nacua, but his impressive emergence only plays a part in the recent success. While Nacua is of course the clear leader in terms of receiving yards, it has been a collective effort to help out the Los Angeles Rams in terms of scoring production. This bodes well for continued success.
His fire and desire to coach does not appear to be fading anytime soon!
For any NFC West teams that were hoping to no longer see the Los Angeles Rams coach. Buckle up!
