The Los Angeles Rams entered Week 17 with an 8-7 record. They also held the sixth seed in the NFC. Earlier today, they took care of business against the New York Giants. Now, Los Angeles receives a big update that impacts their playoff implications.
Los Angeles Rams Clinch a Playoff Spot
For the Los Angeles Rams to clinch a playoff spot in Week 17, they needed to win along with a Seattle Seahawks loss. Well, the Rams got exactly what they needed. The Seahawks lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers by a final score of 30-23. Los Angeles can now celebrate as they know they will be back in the playoffs.
Possible Playoff Opponents
While the Rams have not clinched a playoff spot, we do not know who their opponent will be yet. The Rams can finish with either the sixth or seventh seed in the NFC. So, who are they most likely to play?
There are three possible opponents who all currently have 11-5 records. Those teams are the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Detroit Lions. It is safe to assume that most people would want to see the Rams play the Lions in the playoffs.
Why is that? Because it would be a possible revenge game for both quarterbacks involved. Three years ago, Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford were two key players in a trade between the Rams and the Lions. The Rams won the Super Bowl the first year they had Stafford. Now, there is a chance he can go play at his former home for the Lions’ first home playoff game in 30 years.
