The Green Bay Packers drafted Edgerrin Cooper in the 2nd round, 45th overall of the 2024 NFL Draft. Cooper will impact the Packers’ defense because he will help the defense by stopping the run, rushing the passer, and covering tight ends and running backs.
Cooper hopes he can replicate the things he did with Texas A&M.
Edgerrin Cooper had a great tenure with the Texas A&M Aggies.
Edgerrin Cooper committed to the Aggies as a four-star recruit for the 2020 season. Cooper developed into one of the best linebackers in the country, totaling 205 tackles, 30.5 TFLs, 8.5 sacks, two interceptions, eight pass deflections, and three forced fumbles.
Cooper didn’t play much in his true freshman season, playing ten games, mostly on special teams. He had two tackles. He would redshirt after the conclusion of the 2020 season.
Cooper’s role increased in his redshirt freshman season. He played in 12 games, starting once, with 58 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 0.5 sacks, one interception, one pass deflection, and a 64.1 PFF Grade. The SEC named him to their SEC All-Freshman Team.

He played in 12 games, starting 12, with 84 tackles, 17 TFLs, eight sacks, two pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and a 90.8 PFF Grade. Lance Zierlein’s scouting report of Edgerrin Cooper:
Lance Zierlein did a scouting report of Cooper:
“Highly physical linebacker with elite top-end speed and a burning desire to get to the football that can lead to some inconsistencies in his play. Cooper is average at diagnosing the run but takes off around traffic on a mission to find the ball-carrier once he sees it.
“He can be undisciplined playing his run fits and takes unorthodox paths downhill, but he somehow finds ways to slither around blocks and make challenging tackles. Cooper is a punishing hitter/tackler from any spot on the field, but he’s going to overshoot the mark from time to time due to his lack of control in pursuit.
“He’s a capable quarterback spy, can blitz the pocket and will be an instant hit on special teams, but teams will need to balance the inconsistencies with the passionate run-and-hit mentality.”
Edgerrin Cooper joins Quay Walker and Isaiah McDuffie in Green Bay.
