The Los Angeles Rams stumbled upon a hidden gem when they drafted WR Puka Nacua. He has had a rookie season to remember. Just how good has it been? Besides making a Pro Bowl appearance as a rookie, it has been good enough to break two NFL rookie records to cap off a stellar rookie year.
Puka Nacua Breaks Two NFL Rookie Records
Today, Los Angeles Rams WR Puka Nacua successfully broke two NFL rookie records. One of them was set by Miami Dolphins star WR Jaylen Waddle in 2021. This was the most receptions by a rookie wide receiver. Waddle had 104 in 2021 and Nacua just got his 105th in the third quarter of his Week 18 game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Before that, Nacua broke another rookie record. This one dates back to 1960. Bill Groman of the Houston Oilers set the rookie receiving yards record, putting up 1,473 in that stellar season. Now, Nacua has surpassed this after Groman held the record for 63 years.
Los Angeles Rams Moving Forward
The Los Angeles Rams rested several key starters during this Week 18 game. That is because they already clinched a playoff berth last week. Now, Nacua’s day will likely get done, as he and the Rams move forward. They have their sights on another Super Bowl run after taking a year off from the playoffs.
