The Detroit Lions made some major moves in last year’s draft. After picking Aiden Hutchinson with the second overall pick, they traded up to take Jameson Williams, a receiver many saw as the best in the draft. The flaw was that he was recovering from an ACL injury and wouldn’t be available until later in the season. For the Lions, this was perfect and Williams made his debut in the back half of the season. After his first touchdown, the team apparently was in awe of his skill according to Hutchinson.

Aiden Hutchinson On Jameson Williams
Williams made his debut in week 13 but with limited snaps. Against the Vikings in week 14, he really showed what he could do. He ran past the secondary and was wide open for a 41-yard touchdown catch. Hutchinson talked about the team’s reaction in a recent appearance on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast.
“I mean it happened right as he scored that touchdown. We’re all sitting there on the sideline, because we know how fast he is. And I mean, he was still not 100 percent coming off that knee. I mean, those ACL guys are not 100 percent until a year and a half after. We were all sitting there on the sideline just stargazing and really excited about next year.”
It is safe to say that the Lions are happy about their pick. They recognized that he wasn’t one hundred percent and still could amaze an entire team. The team was already getting excited about the 2023 season at that moment.

How Far Can The Lions Go?
The Detroit Lions are the clear favorites in the NFC North. With an offense of Jared Goff, David Montgomery, De’Andre Swift, Willaims, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and the stellar offensive line, opponents will have headaches trying to stop it. The defense fixed their biggest weakness in free agency with all the signings in the secondary. In a weak NFC, it is not unfathomable to see the Lions in the NFC Championship game this season.
No one wins a Super Bowl in the off-season. However, the Lions are doing everything they can to make sure the team is ready to compete in 2023. It is going to be fun to watch a full season of a healthy Jameson Williams this season.
