The Liberty Flames are coming off a storybook season in 2023. Even though their bowl game against Oregon ended in a complete blowout, that doesn’t take away from what they were able to do this season. Unfortunately, a successful season from a smaller program means they will lose a lot of players to the transfer portal. Star receiver CJ Daniels announced he is entering the transfer portal.
Liberty wide receiver CJ Daniels has entered the transfer portal, @On3sports has learned.
Grabbed 55 catches for 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. Will be a top WR in the portal. https://t.co/VNvB2EkEgp pic.twitter.com/8vg1lImePF

Liberty Flames Lose WR CJ Daniels To The Transfer Portal
Daniels had a monster season for the Flames. He caught 55 passes for 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns. He occasionally returned punts but because of his importance to the passing offense he was in a limited role. In his four-year career with Liberty, he had 106 catches for 1,954 yards and 21 touchdowns. He is the third star player from the 13-1 Flames team to enter the portal.
Great Opportunities For These Players
All of the Liberty players are likely to commit to a larger program. This comes with an NIL package and more exposure for the player. Part of getting drafted to the NFL is being in front of a more national audience. While there have been many players from smaller schools that get drafted, being a part of a Power 5 conference doesn’t hurt either.
Where will all of the Liberty Flames players end up? It will be interesting to see what programs take a chance on these players to see if they can duplicate the success from this season.
