Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Janarius Robinson’s arrest is reminiscent of another famous Raiders drunk driving case
The Las Vegas Raiders were home to one of the most famous drunk driving cases in NFL history. Up-and-coming wide receiver Henry Ruggs III murdered someone while drunk driving in Las Vegas at very high speeds.
Former Alabama Crimson Tide and Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Henry Ruggs III is now making $2.50 an hour, according to a report from David Charns of 8 News Now.
Ruggs pleaded guilty to being under the influence when he was in a fatal car crash in November of 2021. According to prosecutors, Ruggs had a blood-alcohol level that was twice the legal limit, and he was driving at a speed of 156 mph when he crashed into 23-year-old Tina Tintor’s car.
Ruggs was sentenced to a minimum of three years, and a maximum of 10 years. The 25-year-old was sentenced on Aug. 9, 2023, and he will be eligible for parole in 2026.
Henry Ruggs III, who initially began his sentence at High Desert State Prison, is now at a minimum security facility known as the Stewart Conservation Camp.
Ruggs now works for government offices making $2.50 an hour. In the article from 8 News Now, government documents explained that inmates in Ruggs’ position are low-risk inmates.
“[Community trusty offenders] represent a limited potential to misbehave and represent a low risk to escape while assigned to employment within the community,” documents said.
