The Brian Kelly Radio Show at TJ Ribs in Baton Rouge got underway tonight in front of a good crowd. The weekly show will air from 7-8 p.m. CT from now all the way until December 1st. Here were some key takeaways from Brian Kelly’s first rendition of his radio show:
On Freshman Tight End Mason Taylor
“Well, probably the No. 1 surprise of camp is that we hit a home run with Mason Taylor. He’s been outstanding. I’ve been blessed. I’ve had some great tight ends. I’ve got seven of them right now who are active in the NFL. And Mason Taylor is as good as any freshman tight end that I’ve had.”
On What is the Key For the Running Backs:

“Protection is the key for running backs. We’ve got great wide receivers. We’ve got to give them the ball. All the guys have been students of it. They’re all going to be fresh and hard to being down. We hope through attrition we’ll just keep pounding you.”
The Plan For the Running Backs:

“We’ll play four running backs. They all have a role. It’s not one guy who’s going to take that over and be one guy. They’re all good with that.”
On Freshman Linebacker Harold Perkins:

“Harold’s a guy who can track him down. There are going to be some roles (with) Harold that we’re going to have to be specific with him. We can’t give him the entire defensive playbook right away.”
