Patrick Mahomes absolutely loved going on the road and playing villain in front of Buffalo Bills fans on Sunday. In fact, the Kansas City Chiefs star really embraced it.
Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling revealed as much on Sunday following their division win over the Bills. According to Valdes-Scantling, Mahomes was really looking forward to go on the road in the postseason, having spent their dynastic playoff run with home-field advantage all the time.
The divisional round showdown with the Bills was Mahomes’ first true playoff road game, and he wanted it more than anyone else on the team.
“He was the biggest advocate of anyone to go on the road and play. He was all for it. He wanted it. He’s been the good guy of the league for awhile now, but he plays it’s cool — he loved being the villain,” Valdes-Scantling shared, via Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star.
Patrick Mahomes Embraces Villain Role in Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills
Sure enough, Mahomes did play like a true villain against the Bills. While Buffalo tried hard to put him away, they simply couldn’t slow him down.
Mahomes completed 17 of his 21 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns–connecting both with his trusty tight end in Travis Kelce. Josh Allen did play well and almost became the hero for the Bills against the Chiefs, but a botched field goal attempt ruined their chances and saw them lose 27-24.
Of course Bills fans were in shambles after the loss. On the other end, though, there was Patrick Mahomes jumping in joy and relishing the opportunity to break the hearts of the home fans hoping that Buffalo would be able to go to the AFC Championship and then get a shot at the Super Bowl.
Indeed, the Kansas City Chiefs QB, on Sunday, became the perfect villain that the Buffalo Bills will hate for years to come.
