Josh Allen made sure to let his Buffalo Bills teammate Tyler Bass feel and know that he’s not alone in the lowest moment of his career.
Bass was subjected to heavy criticisms on Sunday after he botched what would have been a game-tying field goal with less than two minutes remaining in the divisional round against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills were never able to recover after that, with Patrick Mahomes and Co. holding on for the 27-24 victory.
Many blamed Bass for the loss, and the kicker himself knew how much of a disappointment he caused as he was seen looking dejected on the bench in the closing seconds of the game.
Allen, for his part, consoled his Bills teammate. The veteran quarterback was seen hugging the kicker postgame as they handle the bitterness of the defeat together.

Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen Defends Tyler Bass
For what it’s worth, Allen’s show of support for Bass didn’t end there. In his postgame presser, the Bills quarterback also made sure to defend the 26-year-old and deflect the blame away from him.
Allen emphasized that Bass didn’t lose the game alone for the Bills. They played as a team and failed as a team, there’s just no other word for it. While it’s easy to pinpoint the missed field goal as the biggest turning point, the fact of the matter is Buffalo put itself in such dangerous position in the first place.
The Bills were unable to stop Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce offensively, and it ended up haunting them.
“I wish it wouldn’t have been put in that situation. You win as a team, you lose as a team,” Josh Allen said of Tyler Bass, via NFL on CBS.
Allen certainly couldn’t have said it any better. While the Buffalo Bills lost, at least fans can appreciate the leadership that their quarterback has shown amidst the defeat.
As Allen said, the Bills lost not because of one play alone. Their inability to stop the Chiefs from scoring was a key factor as well, and at the end of the day, everyone on the team had their own shortcomings.
