What was supposed to be a day of love and celebration turned into violence after a shooting erupted during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl 58 parade on Wednesday.
According to reports, at least one was dead and multiple people were injured in the tragic attack.
Kansas City Police Drops Statement on Kansas City Chiefs Parade Shooting
In the aftermath of the incident, Kansas City police made an announcement advising locals and everyone in the area to quickly leave in order to help “facilitate” the treatment of the victims.
Authorities asked for everyone to avoid going to the Union Station parking garage–the area where the Chiefs were had their rally–so that first responders can get through.
“Anyone nearby needs to leave the area as quickly and safely as possible to facilitate treatment of the shooting victims,” the KCPD said in a statement, per The Athletic. “Please avoid the Union Station parking garage area to allow first responders through.”

The official details about the tragedy are still unclear, though there have been reports that it could be worse than initially said. While one has already been confirmed dead at the time of writing, the number of injured continuing to rise.
Kansas City Chiefs Parade Shooting
According to reports, the shooting happened west of Union Station near the garage when Chiefs fans were leaving the rally.
Two armed individuals have since been arrested in light of the recent shooting.
Unfortunately, one was confirmed to be deceased while nine others are injured at the time of writing. Among those injured, three are said to be in critical condition, five are in serious condition, and one obtained a non-life threatening injury, per Emily Shapiro of ABC News.
Millions of people attended the Kansas City Chiefs’ parade and rally. However, despite the massive law enforcement deployed in the event, some were still able to escape the eyes of police and bring guns.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has since reacted to the tragedy, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to send his prayers for the victims of the attack.
