The Kansas City Chiefs may not play until Sunday afternoon, but they are still one of the most talked about teams in the NFL going into Week Two. Their controversial win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week One aside, the organization is, at the very least, mentioned in stories involving international popstar Taylor Swift as she continues to make headlines with her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
This past weekend, the couple was seen at the US Open (tennis tournament) along with Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes. Photos and video clips of the two couples caused a stir on social media because of the well-known political differences between Swift and Mahomes.
While neither Swift nor Mahomes have said anything about the other’s differing view publicly, conjecture of possible tension between the two has continued following Swift’s announcement after the 2024 Presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

After the Presidential Debate last night, social media went wild with the news that Swift is endorsing Vice President Harris as the candidate she would be voting for in the upcoming election.
Swift stated in her post (via her Instagram), “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
Swift stated that she had done her research and that she had concluded that Harris was the best of the two candidates. She also signed off her post with, “Taylor Swift, a Childless Cat Lady” as a shot to Trump’s running mate JD Vance, who has made derogatory remarks about single and childless women during the campaign.

When asked about Swift’s endorsement of his opponent, Trump said, “Well I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better. If you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was only a matter of time. You couldn’t possibly endorse Biden.
“But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace. But I Like Britanny. Britanny is great. She’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift. Wife of the great quarterback. I think she’s terrific.”
This compliment was similar to one Trump gave to both Patrick and Brittany Mahomes not too long ago when the wife of the Kansas City quarterback went viral for her social media retaliation at fans criticizing her for re-posting Turmp’s social media posts.
