The Kansas City Chiefs struck gold with Isiah Pacheco. Not many teams count on seventh-round picks having a huge impact so when it happens, it is a huge deal. Despite winning a Super Bowl with the team, Pacheco is thinking big for 2023. In a recent interview, Pacheco talked about his lofty goal for the 2023 season.
Kansas City Chiefs Isiah Pecheco Sets Lofty Goal For 2023
Pacheco is taking everything day by day but has a big goal for the 2023 season.
“The details. Detailing my notes more, just finding little things to get better at. For me, I want to run for a thousand yards. That’s the goal, obviously, but it starts here today, practice day by day.”
A 1,000 yard season. This isn’t far off from what he had last year. He rushed for 830 yards and he didn’t really become integrated into the offense until the middle of the season. While the Chiefs are more of a pass first offense thanks to Patrick Mahomes, if Pacheco improves from last year, I wouldn’t be surprised if Andy Reid calls more run plays.
A Tough Road In Order To Repeat
The Chiefs will have to go through a gauntlet in the AFC to repeat as champs. There are between seven and nine teams who all believe they have a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl. The added layer of challenge for the Chiefs is they have a target on their back. There are also concerns about the wide receiver room after Juju Smith-Schuster left in free agency. They will be relying more on Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore which is risky. However, I am not going to doubt Mahomes and Reid.
The Kansas City Chiefs would be happy if Isiah Pacheco surpassed 1,000 yards. While Mahomes is amazing, taking the pressure off of him every so often would be great.
