Linebacker Drue Tranquill has seen plenty of Patrick Mahomes magic. Having played for the division rival Chargers, Tranquill was on the wrong end of many ridiculous Mahomes throws. He has to be happy now that he is with the Chiefs. He just has to worry about Mahomes in practice but not in games. One thing that Tranquill noticed was that the highlight throws aren’t reserved for the games. They happen in practice too.

It’s different when you are a teammate versus an opponent. An opponent, even a division one, sees an opposing quarterback for a couple of hours. A teammate sees him day in and day out and Tranquill’s appreciation for what Mahomes can do has only increased.
“You just see these highlight throws that are up every year, year after year. Those throws aren’t just one-off things that he makes in a big-time game. He seems to make those throws every day in practice,” Tranquill told NFL Total Access’ Omar Ruiz on Thursday. “Every day I’m either out there or getting a break on the sideline and I’m just like, ‘Wow. What a throw. What a talent.'”
It’s safe to say that Tranquill is impressed by what he sees out of the Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
Can The Chiefs Repeat?
The Chiefs retained a lot of the core that got them to the game last year. Also, any time you have Patrick Mahomes under center, you have a chance to win it all. There are two issues. The first is simply that it is hard to repeat. Opponents prepare for games against the defending champs differently. You have a target on your back. Second, the AFC is a tough conference and has many quality teams. While the Chiefs can hang with anyone, there are no easy outs once the playoffs hit.
Drue Tranquill is hoping that changing teams leads to a Super Bowl win. So far, he likes what he is seeing from his new team.
