The Kansas City Chiefs are the talk of the football world, winning last night’s Super Bowl clash against the San Francisco 49ers in an epic overtime thriller. Behind quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs marched 75 yards downfield, with Mahomes firing a three-yard strike to wide receiver Mecole Hardman for a walk-off score. With the win, Kansas City continues its reign supreme over the NFL, winning three Super Bowls in the past five years and two in as many seasons. The AFC West club’s dominance should leak into 2025, or that’s what the sportsbooks think. Per SuperBook Sports’ Jeff Sherman, the Chiefs are the favorites to win the AFC next season.

SuperBook Sports: Has Kansas City Chiefs as Clear Favorite to Win AFC in 2025
After last night’s thriller, SuperBook Sportsbook released their odds for the 2025 Super Bowl winner. The sportsbook has the San Francisco 49ers as the early favorite to hoist next season’s Lombardi Trophy at 6/1 odds. The Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, and Detroit Lions are tied for second among NFC clubs at 14/1 odds.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs hold the best odds among AFC franchises, with 8/1 odds to win the 2025 Super Bowl. The team they bested in this year’s AFC Championship, the Baltimore Ravens, are at 10/1 odds, while the Buffalo Bills, another casualty of the Chiefs’ playoff run, come in at 12/1. With a trip to Super Bowl LIX, the Chiefs could become the first franchise ever to win back-to-back-to-back titles (SB era). Of the eight other teams to win back-to-back Super Bowls, none returned to the championship in the third season.
Kansas City Chiefs: Walk-Off 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII
The Chiefs erased a ten-point deficit to emerge victorious in last night’s title game. The Chiefs faced a 10-0 defeat early, but a pair of Harrison Butker field goals and a Patrick Mahomes 16-yard touchdown pass to Marquez Valdes-Scantling gave them a 13-10 lead. San Francisco responded with a touchdown, but a missed extra point from kicker Jake Moody kept the game within a field goal. The 49ers took a 19-16 lead with less than two minutes remaining, but Mahomes led the Chiefs on a 64-yard scoring drive, resulting in the game-tying field goal.
The two juggernauts went to overtime, with San Francisco orchestrating a 15-play, 76-yard field goal drive. However, Mahomes and company one-upped the 49ers with a 13-play, 75-yard walk-off touchdown drive. Patrick Mahomes earned his third Super Bowl MVP, trailing just Tom Brady’s five for most in NFL history.
