Jerry Rice is quite possibly the greatest wide receiver of all time and a San Francisco 49ers legend. As with many franchise legends, he still has an investment in his former team. In a recent interview, he was asked about Brock Purdy and he compared him to franchise legend, Joe Montana.
#49ers legend Jerry Rice on Brock Purdy…
"Brock reminds me a lot of Joe Montana. His coolness. He doesn't get rattled."

Jerry Rice Compares Brock Purdy To Joe Montana
Rice is impressed with Purdy’s demeanor. The former seventh-round pick never seems to get rattled even when the lights are brightest. “Brock reminds me a lot of Joe Montana. His coolness. He doesn’t get rattled,” Rice said in the appearance. This is some high praise for Purdy. Montana is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time so even to have a small part of your game compared to him says a lot. The 49ers are in great shape in the NFC but we have seen this before.
Can The 49ers Finally Break Through?
At this moment, the 49ers are clearly the best team in the NFC. The Eagles are on a downward trend. Detroit’s defense has a lot of questions. The NFC South champion is going to be deeply flawed. Dallas is an interesting wild card team but San Francisco already beat them this season. The biggest enemy is health. This team looks different when Deebo Samuel is off the field. Same with pieces of their offensive line. If the 49ers stay healthy, they should be the NFC favorite.
It seems like Purdy is settling into his role and thriving. Many questioned whether he would be able to follow up his 2022 performance and he hasn’t missed a beat. Can Kyle Shanahan finally get this team a Super Bowl win?
