The Philadelphia Eagles have now lost back-to-back games by 20 points or more, though quarterback Jalen Hurts isn’t too worried about it.
Philadelphia is one of the favorites to make it to the Super Bowl this 2023 after making to the finale last season and only losing to the Kansas City Chiefs. The belief on the team was further fueled by their hot start, winning their first five games and losing just once through Week 12.
However, after getting blown out by the San Francisco 49ers by way of a 42-19 scoreline in Week 13, the Eagles appear to be out of sorts. Against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14 on Sunday, the Philly franchise struggled big time and couldn’t find a way pass the Dallas defense.
Losing close games is one thing, but succumbing to two title-contending teams by 20 points or more is certainly a cause for concern. The Eagles did lose three games in 2022, including back-to-back defeats in Weeks 16 and 17, but they never lost by more than 15 points.
Despite the ugly stretch they are in, Hurts is not hitting the panic button just yet. He expressed his belief that their latest slump is something that they are more than capable of overcoming, so he doesn’t fear they are going to be stuck.
“It’s something we are going through, not something we are stuck in,” Hurts told reporters after their Cowboys defeat, per Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP.
True enough, the season is far from over and the Eagles still have a chance to steer the ship to the right direction. However, the challenge is on Jalen Hurts and Co. to walk the talk.
Philadelphia Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts Urge Team To Step Up
Sure enough, Jalen Hurts understands that they have a lot of things to work on if they want to get out of their current slide. With that said, he urged his team and himself to be “better.”
“We have to all be better and that starts with me,” Hurts added, according to Jeff McLane of Philadelphia Inquirer.
Hurts also expounded on what he can improve on himself to help the Philadelphia Eagles. He responded by saying that he needs to “protect the ball better” since this 2023 season, he already has 10 interceptions.
The Eagles play the Seattle Seahawks next week, which should be a good opportunity for Hurts and the rest of Philly to get back to their winning ways. But if they can’t pull off a convincing win, expect the doubts on the team to intensify.
