The Houston Texans made their final cuts for their 53-man roster before the start of the 2024 regular season. With new additions to the team such as wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon, Houston looks like they will be one of the top teams this year. However, the Texans received some devastating news regarding their quarterback, and he will unfortunately miss the entire 2024 NFL season.
Houston Texans Quarterback Out For The Year
One of Houston’s backup quarterbacks, veteran Case Keenum has been placed on season-ending injured reserve after suffering a foot injury in the team’s preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Keenum started in two games for the Texans last season while starter C.J. Stroud was out with an injury.

Texans Fans React
Many fans in Houston are devastated for Keenum as there is a good chance that he may not see the field ever again due to his age and injuries. Here are some of the reactions on social media to the injury:
There is a extra roster spot so maybe Sims or one of these other guys make the roster because of it.
I believe Boyle or another QB3 make it back to the Texans Practice Squad
This is also probably it for the career of Case Keenum if he out for the year, what a career for the… https://t.co/diDUzoGVJS pic.twitter.com/JQH4Vz30V0

Whoa! So two quarterbacks on the roster and Keenum's season, and maybe playing time with the #Texans, is over. He is set to be a free agent at the end of the year. https://t.co/thRDjLeWOm

Case Keenum Career
Keenum has been on a lot teams throughout his career, including the Texans, Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and the Buffalo Bills. While the veteran has mainly been a backup option his entire career, he has shown that he has the capability to be a decent starter.
The quarterback is mainly known for his part in “The Minneapolis Miracle” that took place in the Wild Card round of the 2017 playoffs against the New Orleans Saints. Following that season, he was trade to Denver, where he amounted to 3,890 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He has declined since that season in 2017, and it looks like he can be at the tail end of his career.
Do you think Keenum has a little more gas left in the tank, or will this injury cause him to call it a career?
