The Green Bay Packers had a promising 2023-24 NFL season. They became the first 7-seed to ever win an NFL playoff game. This has some arguing that the Packers are ahead of schedule to make a Super Bowl run.
As a result, the Packers now need to take a closer look at the pieces they have to make a run in 2024. One of those pieces is CB Jaire Alexander. There is speculation that Green Bay could cut him by the official start of the 2024 NFL season. However, Alexander is clapping back at certain media speculation.
Jaire Alexander Responds to the Media
Earlier today, Alexander made an Instagram post that stated how thankful he is for the time he has had in Green Bay so far. He is appreciative of the six years he has played at Lambeau Field as well as those who have shown him love throughout his journey.
This post drew a response from Bleacher Report Gridiron. They captioned that post by saying “Jaire cryptic IG post?”
However, Alexander did not just let that slide. He responded with a message of his own. Here is what he captioned that response with:
“The media always looking for clicks…”
Green Bay Packers Contract Decision
The date to watch is March 20th when it comes to Alexander. That is because, if Alexander is still on the Packers’ roster after that date, he will be owed an $8 million roster bonus. If the Packers cut him before that date, they would not have to pay Alexander that roster bonus.
Dead cap is also something the Packers will have to consider. If they cut Alexander before March 20th, there will still be $3 million against their salary cap in 2024 for a player who is no longer on their team.
Alexander is in the middle of a 4-year, $84 million contract. When he signed that contract, Alexander was the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. After getting suspended one game last season for going rogue on a coin toss, many fans and members of the media seem to believe that this could be the end of the Packers’ relationship with Alexander.
