Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst had a press conference on Wednesday and there was one topic that a lot of people wanted to talk about, Jordan Love. We have now seen about half a season from the first year starter and it has been a mixed bag. There have been some really good moments but also some head-scratching ones. Gutekunst put pressure on the next 10 games for the quarterback in one of his answers.

Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst Puts Pressure On Jordan Love
“These are going to be a very important 10 games,” Gutekunst said when asked about Love. While the GM praised his quarterback, he recognized that there is a lot of work to be done. The offense has looked asleep in the first half and even when the offense wakes up, penalties and poor throws lead to bad things. Gutekunst needs to see more out of Love if he is going to commit to him long-term. With the quarterback class coming up, Gutekunst needs to be able to know whether he needs to focus on getting another guy or build around Love.
Lots Of Picks To Work With
As of right now, the Packers have five top 90 picks thanks to the Rasul Douglas trade. This gives Gutekunst a lot of wiggle room to go and get whatever player they want. The hope is that Love shows that he can be the quarterback of the future and the team can spend the draft building up the offensive line and other places where the team is thin. If Love continues to struggle and shows no improvement, the Packers may try to maneuver their way to one of the top quarterback prospects and start the rebuild from square one.
This is an important 10 games not just for Love but for all of the young Packers players. There is plenty to play for this season. The team needs to show that they can improve over time and be ready to compete in a couple of years once they have gotten reps under their belt.
