The Georgia Bulldogs might have missed the College Football Playoff for the first since 2021, but that hasn’t stopped talent from arriving in droves in Athens, Georgia. Per On3 Sports, former USC Trojans wide receiver Michael Jackson III will play for the Bulldogs next fall.

The Georgia Bulldogs and Kirby Smart have already added five high-end prospects during the current transfer cycle. Georgia snagged fellow wideouts Colbie Young and Landon Humphreys, defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod, and running back Trevor Etienne before Jackson officially committed to the SEC club on Thursday. Etienne was a big haul, tallying 1,710 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns with the Florida Gators over the past two seasons.
Michael Jackson III: Entered Transfer Portal After Three Seasons with USC
Jackson joined the USC Trojans in 2021 as a three-star recruit from Las Vegas, Nevada. The Desert Pines High School product appeared as a true freshman in seven games, tallying 12 receptions for 116 yards. Jackson scored his first career touchdown against the Utah Utes as a sophomore, taking his lone catch for a twenty-yard score. He finished his second season with the Trojans with 17 catches for 236 yards and two touchdowns. His best game came against the Cal Golden Bears in early November, snagging five catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
The six-foot, 190-pound wideout entered this season with the potential of taking over a more significant role with the departure of fellow wideouts Jordan Addison and Kyle Ford but saw no uptick in production. Jackson finished the 2023 season with 17 receptions for 146 yards and one touchdown. His lone score came in the season opener against Nevada.
Georgia Bulldogs: Looking to Return to College Football Playoff Next Season
The Georgia Bulldogs finished the regular season 12-0. Still, a loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship bumped the then-top team in the country outside the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs had won the previous two national titles while losing only once during that span. The CFP committee opted for the one-loss Crimson Tide and the one-loss Texas Longhorns, both conference champions, over the one-loss Georgia Bulldogs. The committee also snubbed the undefeated Florida State Seminoles.
