The Georgia Bulldogs may not have made the College Football Playoff this season but they are still winning as they were able to land one of the top NCAA Transfer Portal players. Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports is reporting that former Florida Gators running back Trevor Etienne has committed to join Georgia.

Trevor Etienne has played two seasons with the Florida Gators as through the two seasons he has recorded 249 rushing attempts for 1,472 yards (5.9 yards per carry) with 14 rushing touchdowns as well as 30 receptions for 238 yards (7.9 yards per catch) with one receiving touchdown. He has already proven to be able to dominate in the SEC so will not be as steep of a learning curve for next year as he joins the Georgia Bulldogs.
What does Trevor Etienne joining mean for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2024 and beyond?
While we do not how long Trevor Etienne will be with the Georgia Bulldogs as he is eligible for the 2025 NFL draft, this could be only for one season. However, if that is the case then that is still a massive upgrade for the program.
With Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton, the top two running backs for the Bulldogs, currently seniors they could be gone in 2024 and Trevor Etienne will slide in and be the leading running back. The Georgia Bulldogs have one of the best offensive lines in the nation and that should improve Etienne’s numbers.
The Bulldogs have been running the football at a good rate as they finished the regular season 41st in college football with 177.3 rushing yards per game. That will completely open up the passing game and give another dominant option for Carson Beck, who announced he will be returning for the 2024 season as well.
This experienced offense will continue to get another kick at the can and with the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams beginning next season, they should be a lock for the playoffs. Etienne has shown to be a solid pass-catching back and that will help the program as they will lose tight end Brock Bowers after the 2023 season.
This is a massive win for the Bulldogs and should be viewed as such. One of the best running backs joining one of the best offenses in the sport makes the SEC even more interesting.
