Jordan Love was spectacular in his first full season under center for the Green Bay Packers, and he has earned a lot of admirers in the process.
One of them is ESPN’s Mike Greenberg, who was so impressed that he predicted that the Green Bay Packers star is going to be the next quarterback to win his first Super Bowl, although he didn’t indicate exactly when it’ll happen.
“I’m a believer in Jordan Love,” said Greenberg during a segment on ESPN’s Get Up last week. “Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers are on the rise.”
“This is not to say that Jordan Love is the next best quarterback in the NFL. But I think he’s more than good enough, and I have a feeling about that team. The Green Bay Packers are a sneaky, excellent pick to be in the Super Bowl next year,” he added.
How Jordan Love did in 2023
After waiting for his turn for three years, Jordan Love took on the starting quarterback role for the Green Bay Packers when Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets.
In 17 regular-season games, the Utah State product recorded 372 pass completions for 4,159 passing yards and 32 touchdowns (64.2 completion percentage). Love also rushed for 247 yards and even scored four rushing touchdowns.
With a 9-8 record, the Green Bay Packers made it to the NFL playoffs, and they became the first seventh seed to advance to the Divisional Round after blowing out the Dallas Cowboys. In the wild-card match, Jordan Love filled up the stat sheet with 16 pass completions for 272 passing yards and three touchdowns.
In the Divisional Round, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Green Bay Packers. It was a close game, and Love managed to have 21 pass completions for 194 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The other candidates to become the next QB to win their first Super Bowl, besides Jordan Love
Matthew Stafford was the last first-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback, doing so during the 2021 season when he led the Los Angeles Rams in his 13th year to the title against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Mike Greenberg also listed Brock Purdy, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert as the other candidates. But since they’re all in the same conference as Patrick Mahomes, except for Purdy, their chances of making it to the Super Bowl in the first place are harder than Love’s.
