A recently released All-Pro Green Bay Packers linebacker will not have a chance to be retained for the upcoming season after the San Francisco 49ers signed the player to help with an injury that might not heal by the start of the 2024 season.
The Green Bay Packers lost a few key players this week
The Packers released or let several key contributors walk into free agency from their 2023 playoff team. The Packers were able to re-sign AJ Dillon after they left in free agency. However, linebacker De’Vondre Campbell will not have a chance to return.
The San Francisco 49ers signed De’Vondre Campbell
Per Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the 49ers signed Campbell to a one-year deal. The 49ers signed Campbell after losing Dre Greenlaw to an Achilles injury during the Super Bowl. Greenlaw is set to have Achilles surgery, and the 49ers needed a linebacker to start the 2024 season.

Campbell will provide veteran experience for the 49ers
At 30, Campbell will provide veteran experience for a team looking to return to the Super Bowl. He earned a Pro Bowl appearance for the 2021 season and has 779 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and seven interceptions in his eight-year NFL career.
The Atlanta Falcons drafted Campbell in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He played with the Arizona Cardinals in 2020 before signing with the Packers ahead of the 2021 season.
