The Detroit Lions just keep adding weapons to their offense. A receiving corp of Amon-Ra St. Brown and second-year player Jameson Williams already looked really good going into the 2023 season. Now, they will add some veteran help as the team brings back Marvin Jones Jr.

Detroit Lions Sign Marvin Jones Jr.

Jones Jr. signed with the Lions in 2016 and spent five years with the organization. He spent two years in Jacksonville and now will return to the Lions to try and help the team capture an NFC North title. He was part of a Detroit team in 2016 that went to the postseason something the franchise has only done three times this century. The team is hoping that Jones Jr. can bring a veteran presence and a great third option behind St. Brown and Williams. The deal is very team-friendly being only one year for three million with incentives of up to five million.

The Lions Are Nailing Free Agency

The team has been very active this off-season in retooling its roster. The secondary has been completely made over with Cameron Sutton, Emmanuel Moseley, and CJ Gardner-Johnson all being signed in free agency. This was a huge weakness for the team last season and now looks to be one of their biggest strengths. While Jamaal Williams signed with the Saints, David Montgomery was brought in to help fill the void. On top of that, the Lions own the number six overall pick in the draft and will pick again at 18.

The Detroit Lions are the clear favorite in the NFC North right now. While there is no banner for winning free agency, the Lions are setting themselves up for a successful 2023 season. With a weak NFC, the race could be wide open and the Lions seem to be going for it.
