Cam Newton went viral recently when several videos surfaced showing the former NFL MVP being ganged up and getting into a brawl with a group of men during an event.
Now more details have emerged on what led to the fracas, with one of the parties involved even sharing a statement on the matter.
Cam Newton Fight
For those who missed it, Newton was at a youth 7-on-7 football game in Atlanta on Sunday when he got into the disturbing fight.
It happened in front of many people, with some taking videos of the heated altercation. In the clips caught by bystanders in the area, Newton can be seen being approached by a group of men before he was attacked.
The ex-Carolina Panthers quarterback fought with at least three people, who also kept punching and tackling him in the heated moment. Event staff was eventually seen separating those involved and stopping the fight, with reports noting that they were all kicked out from the event.

Initial details of what caused the incident are unknown. It has been widely reported that Newton’s team and program he co-founded, the C1N, was a participant in the youth competition pitting youth teams.
Details Emerge on Cam Newton Brawl
Now, according to the latest updates, the fight happened during the We Ball Sport event where under-15 and under-18 teams from Georgia and Alabama were invited. As mentioned, Cam Newton’s C1N team participated.
Apparently, the brawl started after C1N and TopShelf Performance had a “heated game” with plenty of trash talking. It then “boiled” over between the coaching staff of both sides, with the TopShelf crew being the ones seen mobbing the former NFL superstar.
Here’s what The Athletic reported about the incident:
In video clips posted on social media, individuals involved with TopShelf Performance, a wide receiver training facility in Atlanta that had youth teams in the event, approached Newton at the top of a set of steps underneath a We Ball Sports tent Sunday afternoon. Newton was grabbed and a fight ensued. Two men shown fighting with Newton were both coaches for TopShelf Performance and formerly coached with the quarterback, according to a source with knowledge of elite 7-on-7 football. The video shows Newton grabbing one of the combatants and dragging him aside, where the fracas continued. Police and security guards broke up the altercation.

According to Mitchell, TopShelf beat C1N in a “heated game” with a lot of trash talk between the under-18 teams on Saturday. The tensions boiled over on Sunday.
Newton and members of the TopShelf team were all removed from the incident. Furthermore, TopShelf released a statement condemning the violence that their crew showed, adding that they will be handling the matter internally.
“We are deeply concerned about the recent incident involving Cam Newton, and our thoughts are with all parties affected. Violence has no place in our community, and we strongly condemn any form of aggression,” TopShelf said.
It remains to be seen what happens next and if anyone will file a case because of the attack. We will keep you updated on the latest information with regards to this incident. Stay tuned.
