The Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing season, but even their most ardent hater cannot deny that they’re still one of the better football teams in the NFL. Despite his postseason failings, Dak Prescott is still one of the better field generals playing in the NFL.
This idea is what Micah Parsons was fighting for when he argued that Dak Prescott deserved more credit during the voting process for the 2023 NFL MVP.
Dallas Cowboys’ Micah Parsons calls out voters for not factoring in Prescott’s impressive 2023 season
The elite OLB made an appearance at the Stephen A. Smith Show to talk about everything Cowboys with known Cowboys hater Stephen A. Smith. During his guest spot, he talked about Dak Prescott ending up as a runner-up to Lamar Jackson, which was something he didn’t agree with.
DAZN’s Tayyib Abu detailed Parsons’ arguments on why his QB should have won MVP:
Parsons said, “I want to know why Dak wasn’t MVP. You talk about numbers; he (Dak) led the league in QBR, led the league in passing and was second in touchdown touchdown-to-interception ratio. He should have got more votes.”
Parsons also qualified Jackson’s MVP by saying, “He (Lamar) had the number one defense in the NFL. That defense was a triple crown defense.”
Dak Prescott’s 2023 stats do provide a compelling argument for him. He finished 2023 with 4526 passing yards, a league-leading 36 passing touchdowns, and the longest completed pass at 92 yards. Moreover, he did all this while only throwing nine interceptions for all 17 regular-season games.
It may be reasonable to think that Prescott wasn’t picked as MVP because of Baltimore’s elite offense. His reputation as a choker during his team’s most important games may have also given the voters a slightly negative image of Prescott.
But no matter how much Parsons would try to argue for his QB, the award has already been given out. The only way he and the Cowboys can right this injustice is by one-upping their performance next season and gun for a Super Bowl win.
