Derek Carr did not love how his time with the Las Vegas Raiders ended. After a subpar 2023, he ended the season on the bench. Because of his contract, he was an obvious cut candidate. After being released, he was signed by the New Orleans Saints who are hoping that Carr can bring some stability to the position. In a recent interview, he took a shot at his former team while praising the Saints.
Derek Carr Takes Shot At Las Vegas Raiders
To be fair, I don’t think that Carr meant this statement as an insult but it definitely comes off that way.
“I’m happy to be somewhere where we’re in a stable organization that’s been proven for years,” Carr told the Fresno Bee’s Anthony Galaviz on Saturday, “and I hope that the Raiders find something good there too, where they can keep that stability for the next guys because I know how important it is and I care about my old teammates. But for the time being, I’m just excited to be a part of the Saints organization because they’ve won at a high level for a long time.”
He calls the Saints “stable” and said “they’ve won at a high level for a long time”. In this he is basically saying that the Raiders are a mess and haven’t had any sustained success.
What To Expect From The Raiders
This season could go sideways very quickly. Jimmy Garappolo has some injury concerns already. Davante Adams is on the fast track to unhappiness. The rest of the team is full of expensive B-tier players. I wouldn’t be surprised if the team comes out of the gates flat and questions start to arise about Josh McDaniels and the front office. The AFC is a gauntlet and their division is one of the toughest in football thanks to the fact that any team has the play the Kansas City Chiefs twice.
Again, I don’t think Derek Carr meant to take this brutal shot at the Las Vegas Raiders but he absolutely did. Will the Raiders blow it up if they start off slow?
