Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders made his case for the NCAA or Rose Bowl to reimburse his players who were alleged Robbery victims during their loss Saturday against UCLA.
Several players claimed to have jewelry stolen from their locker room during the game. Local police are investigating the incident this week.
Deion Sanders suggests the Rose Bowl could pay for the stolen items
Sanders spoke at his press conference Tuesday on the heist. Per a video posted on X, Sanders said the NCAA or Rose Bowl could reimburse his players for the items that were stolen.
“Our kids got robbed during the game last week. I think that’s a travesty,” Sanders said. “I would expect the NCAA to do something about that…This is the Rose Bowl. They said the granddaddy of ’em all, right? I’m sure Granddaddy had some money. Grandpa should have some money to give these kids.”
Sanders said the players did not have insurance on the stolen items. He said his players must be educated about having their expensive items insured.
Sanders said he would make a list of all of the items that were taken in the robbery.
“I’m going to have a list made out from these young men, and I know they’re going to be truthful about what they lost, so we can try and get that back for them,” Sanders said. “They may not be able to get the items back, but they should be able to reimburse them. That was unbelievable.”
UCLA players had items stolen in their locker room as well, Sanders said. The NCAA needs to do something about the robbery, he said.
“It don’t make no sense when you’re out there ballin’ and playing your heart out and you get robbed at the same aspect. I hope we can do something about that, NCAA. You do something about everything else. Do something about that.”

The alleged robbery is not a good look for the NCAA or the Rose Bowl. There should have been adequate security in the Buffaloes’ locker room so that no one would be able to steal player’s items.
However, the list might not be the easiest way to be reimbursed. It’ll be interesting to see how the NCAA or Rose Bowl responds to Sanders’ request. Hopefully, the players will be refunded for what they had stolen.
