The biggest question going in this week three game against the St Louis Battlehawks for the DC Defenders was the quarterback position. The Defenders Jordan Ta’amu may have answered that question based on how he played. The Defenders have defeated the Battlehawks 34-28, and now remain the last undefeated team in the North division. Jordan Ta’amu stepped up big time and may have proven why he should remain the starter.

Ta’amu finally got a chance to show what he could do against the Battlehawks. In week two he was pulled out of the game due to not being able to utilize the passing game. Without being able to pass, many believed this week would be the turning point for fellow quarterback D’Eriq King to take the mantle. While King did make a pass for a touchdown, Jordan Ta’amu may have proved that he needs to remain the starter.

In the win against the Battlehawks, Ta’amu completed 11 passes out of 20 attempts for 196 yards and one passing touchdown, according to the XFL website. Also important, Ta’amu did not throw any interceptions. These stats do not include the two passes he completed to secure the two-point conversions. The way Ta’amu played this week was much cleaner than in past weeks, which is a reason why the team got the win.

Jordan Ta’amu may not run as often as King does, but the way he was able to scramble out of the pocket and avoid sacks was a big help for the Defenders. There were many moments where it looked like Jordan Ta’amu would go down for the sack, and was able to push through to avoid any negative yards. Ta’amu rushed the ball 10 times for 22 yards, and one touchdown, according to the XFL website.

It is highly likely that the DC Defenders will continue to use D’Eriq King as the season progresses, but this week’s game may have secured Jordan Ta’amu the starting job. The Defenders are now 3-0 and will face the Vegas Vipers for the second time this season on Sunday, March 12th at 7 PM Eastern.
