After signing his 4-year, $54.75 million contract extension this offseason, David Njoku is definitely the starting tight end for the Browns.
Njoku has produced much more than tight end Austin Hooper, who has had two disappointing seasons with the Browns, so Njoku will likely see more time on the field.
Last season, Njoku racked up 36 catches on 475 yards while tacking on four touchdowns.
Per Fantasy Pros, all signs point to Njoku having a spectacular season.
“Yes, the offense could be gross if Jacoby Brissett is the quarterback, but David Njoku can still ascend this season. The Browns have limited proven options behind Amari Cooper, especially ones with Njoku’s rare athletic talent. With his new contract in hand and sterling efficiency numbers last season to foreshadow the liftoff, it’s time for him to ball out. Last year, Njoku was 11th in yards per route run, fifth in yards after the catch per reception and seventh in slot yards per route run.”
What Should We Expect From Njoku Next Year?
Njoku had 53 targets last season, but we should expect that to grow since he will be the starting tight end.
Njoku is also a very efficient player. Last season, Njoku had a 67.9 percent catch rate along with 13.2 yards per catch.
Njoku’s catch rate of 67.9 percent is very impressive especially when he’s making catches like this:
David Njoku’s Receiving Ability is Incredible
In the first three years of his career, Njoku only dropped thirteen passes. And if that isn’t impressive enough, over the past two seasons Njoku has only dropped five passes. And it’s not like Njoku doesn’t get many passes thrown to him, he still had 53 targets last season.
Some of the passes that Njoku catches are insane.
Not every pass is perfect but he somehow finds a way to make them work; like this one:

David Njoku Looks to Have an Outstanding Year
With Njoku being the starting tight end, he would probably be put as the second option on the field behind Amari Cooper.
It is safe to assume that his targets will go up, so we should expect a big season from David Njoku.
