Dan Orlovsky works for ESPN right now, a company under Disney’s domain. Disney is very protective of their image, taking no chances at jeopardizing their massively profitable standings. With that being said, Orlovsky’s tweet during Thursday Night Football may bring the wrong type of attention toward himself and the company. He referenced an old tweet of his to describe Browns quarterback Joe Flacco’s behavior, and it amassed attention very quickly.

— Dan Orlovsky (@danorlovsky7) December 29, 2023
In three hours, Dan Orlovsky received almost 45,000 likes on the social media post. Most replies were laughing along with the former quarterback and his comparison. A few were mockingly telling him that he was going to have some ESPN higher-ups waiting for a chat on Friday morning. Love it or hate it, the post went viral, garnering Orlovsky attention, even if it was something more akin to the controversial Antonio Brown.
Dan Orlovsky and Joe Flacco Were Once Competitors
The average NFL career is not long, but Joe Flacco has been playing since 2008. Dan Orlovsky, who was drafted three years prior in 2005, has not played in a regular season game since 2015. Each man also had different roles, with Orlovsky primarily a backup, however, in 2011 these two faced off.
While Orlovsky was an Indianapolis Colt in 2011, helping guide the team to Andrew Luck through a 2-14 record, he earned a start against the Baltimore Ravens. Flacco was the starting quarterback at the time, one season before earning a Super Bowl MVP. On that Sunday afternoon, Orlovsky’s Colts fell 24-10, pushing their record to 0-13 with three games remaining. The Ravens were 10-3 following the easy win.
That Joe Flacco is not only playing still but competing at a high level 12 years later is impressive. His 309-yard night helped the Browns score 37 points and clinch a playoff berth. Dan Orlovsky may have been onto something with his viral social media post. Now, the question is, how will it be received by his employers?
