NFL offensive rookie of year, Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott won offensive rookie of the year in 2016 as the 135th overall draft pick. Prescott is the second lowest pick to ever win the award. Running back Mike Anderson won the award in 2000 as the 189th pick.

To say that the Dallas Cowboys opened their season with a bang on Sunday night would be a massive understatement at this point. This is after watching Dak Prescott and the Cowboys put on an absolute clinic in what turned out to be a massive 40-0 shellacking of their rivals, the New York Giants, in Week 1.

You just know that NFL Twitter was going to be buzzing after watching Dallas totally manhandle their opponents in what was supposed to be a tough matchup for both sides. Apparently, the Cowboys had other ideas, and social media clearly got the message:

There’s much more where that came from. After all, as one of the tweets above noted, it’s the first time in over two decades that a team destroyed their opponents in a road game by more than 40 points to open the season. It’s probably safe to say that we won’t be seeing this again anytime soon.

New York Giants Get Trolled Hard on Twitter After Embarrassing Loss

As for the Giants, things obviously couldn’t have gone any worse on opening night. Prescott, who finished with 13-of-24 passes for 143 yards, had no trouble getting down the field in their opening drive. It was pretty much the same story the rest of the way.

Dallas’ defense was perhaps even more impressive. They didn’t give New York quarterback Daniel Jones an inch in this one, as they staked their claim as being the best defense in the entire NFL. It’s hard to deny this notion after seeing Micah Parsons and the Cowboys’ defensive line murder the Giants on Sunday.

Based on the reactions on Twitter, the fans on social media clearly agree:

“Dak Prescott is a turnover machine”

“Who’s going to cover Darren Waller?”

“We have a better O-line than the Cowboys”

“We finally have speed with Jalen Hyatt”

    “We have a better D-line than ya’ll”

The Cowboys kick off their campaign with a massive win as they head back to Texas to host Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets in Week 2. The Giants, on the other hand, will need to dust themselves off quickly after this embarrassment, with a matchup against the Arizona Cardinals scheduled for next Sunday.
