Dallas Cowboys Get Massive Update on Dak Prescott Injury Recovery

When the Dallas Cowboys signed three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott to a record-setting extension last season, they hoped that it would ensure years of high-quality play at the position for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to injury.

Prescott, the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history in terms of annual salary ($60 million per year), suffered a gruesome hamstring injury that limited him to just eight games in 2024. In those games, Prescott completed 64.7% of his passes for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, eight interceptions, and an 86.0 passer rating.

The Cowboys, of course, finished the season 7-10, missed the NFL Playoffs, and chose not to bring back head coach Mike McCarthy.

Going into 2025, the team has many questions to answer, and one of the most pressing is the status of Prescott and his recovery.

The Dallas Cowboys Are Happy with Dak Prescott and His Recovery

Speaking at the NFL owners meetings, Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones was asked for an update on Prescott’s recovery and if he would have any restrictions when OTA’s start by Jon Machota of The Athletic.

Jones responded: “Dak’s doing great. He’s coming along. He’s very thrilled with where he is. And I know the trainers are too. I feel like he’s doing a hell of a job.

“He’ll have some limitations, yeah. But knowing Dak, he’s a worker. He’s thrilled with where he is.”

Dallas will certainly need Prescott back at full health by the start of the regular season. The reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, reside in their division as do the young surging Washington Commanders.

If they are going to make any noise in the division, and in the NFC as a whole, they need their star quarterback healthy.
