The Dallas Cowboys were victorious in an entertaining, close game against the Detroit Lions. Although the Dallas Cowboys won after a controversial 20-19 ending, their star wide receiver showed up tonight. Unfortunately for him finishing with 13 catches and 227 yards receiving with a touchdown drew the attention of not only fans but also the attention of other important bodies of note.
Dallas Cowboys Informed After Lions Win
In his first 200-yard game as a member of the Dallas Cowboys CeeDee Lamb received a notice in his locker room that he would have to submit himself to a drug test. Although claimed to be random by the league, they have selected Lamb by “the NFL drug-testing programs Independent Administrator”.
Players have often complained about how these tests are administered and how the players are selected. The criticized elements include the timing, frequency, lack of privacy, and some of the means that evaluators will go through to ensure the tests can be administered.
While this is not going to be the particular case for the Dallas Cowboys receiver, the immediate posting of his notice right after his spectacular Saturday night game shows why many players disagree with how the testing protocol goes about their business.
Dallas Cowboys Record-Breaking Day
What was not to be ruined was the landmark night that the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver had. Lamb broke the longstanding record of legendary wide receiver Michael Irvin for a single season as a member of the Cowboys. Lamb eclipsed the 111 reception season with his 112th catch.
When asked about it, Dallas Cowboys legend Irvin offered his sentiments on Lamb breaking the record.
I love it. If you retire a number and they put it in the rafters, they show it in passing and then go right back to the game. If your number is on the best player’s back, every time he makes a play, they say oh, he looks like Michael Irvin. If he drops a ball, they say Michael Irvin wouldn’t have dropped that. When we get to these places where we’re breaking records, I love it. Absolutely, because it brings back the history, especially when this man wears the same number that I did. We have an 88 club, and we text each other all the time: Let’s keep this in the family.
For the storied Dallas Cowboys franchise, wearing the jersey number 88 carries a great amount of significance. And just like Irvin is suggesting, when a Cowboys player makes a move or makes a mistake it’s all scrutinized.
Dallas Cowboys Playoff Picture
Lamb’s latest performance comes as this team is hoping to still win the NFC conference, securing a bye and home field throughout the playoffs. Although it would require three losses by other teams including one by the Eagles and two by the 49ers.
With the Philidelphia Eagles having their two remaining opponents as the Cardinals and Giants, It would require something of a minor miracle for the Cowboys to win the division at this point, but the possibility is still on the table.
