The Indianapolis Colts are still searching for their head coach. While taking time isn’t necessarily a bad thing, other teams have already made hires and are scooping up candidates for other positions. Many wondered what Jim Irsay and the team would do after firing Frank Reich and giving the interim job to Jeff Saturday. Many viewed Saturday as a front runner but now it seems there is a new favorite in the Colts head coach search.
Eagles OC Shane Steichen and Giants OC Mike Kafka both also interviewed for the Colts' head coaching job.

New Front Runner In Colts Head Coach Search
This past weekend, Eagles OC Shane Steichen and Giants OC Mike Kafka interviewed for the job. Many around the NFL believe that owner Jim Irsay is targeting Steichen to be the next head coach of the Colts. It would not be a bad hire at all. The Eagles’ offense has been one of the most dominant in the league in all facts of the game. Jalen Hurts has been turned into an MVP candidate and Steichen is a big reason why.

Can The Colts Entice Him To Leave?
The good news about the Colts’ situation is that it is not as dire as some other teams. The team currently has the no. 4 pick in the draft. Regardless of whether they trade up or not, they will likely pick a quarterback. This would give Steichen the ability to develop another young quarterback. He has proven he can do it with Hurts and would get an opportunity to do it again with Bryce Young, Will Levis, CJ Stroud, or any of the other prospects. If they do not get Steichen, Kafka is also a solid candidate with what he was able to do with the Giants’ offense this year.

The Colts head coach search is one of the more interesting in the league. If Steichen is their guy and he agrees to leave Philadelphia, I would expect an announcement soon after the Super Bowl.
