Who will be the next head coach of the Indianapolis Colts? This is a tough question to answer.
Once again, the Colts held interviews for the position and just completed the second round with a number of candidates. And, believe it or not, Mike Garofolo of NFL Network reported that the Colts could even have a THIRD round of interviews.
The #Colts are nearly done with their second round of head coaching interviews and are considering a rare Round 3 as well, sources tell me and @RapSheet. If they go that route, they’d pare down the list to a select few finalists before making their decision on their next HC.

This is a rare situation if the Colts do end up going with a third round. DeMeco Ryans and Sean Payton, two of the top names, didn’t meet with the Colts. Furthermore, many believe that former interim head coach Jeff Saturday is the favorite, for some reason.
This is what happens when:
A. The best candidates of this hiring cycle don't want to meet with you (Payton, Harbaugh, Ryans).
B. The owner is set on Jeff Saturday.
C. Others around him keep bringing in candidates, hoping to avert disaster. https://t.co/cpTIi3iZj4— Gregg Doyel (@GreggDoyelStar) February 2, 2023
NFL World Reacts To Confusing Indianapolis Colts HC Search
The Colts have interviewed a ton of candidates, including Shane Steichen and Raheem Morris. But, the report of a potential third round of interviews sent the NFL community into a whirlwind of reactions.

Colts holding a third round of HC interviews is a screaming signal they hope candidates refuse so they can say they had no choice but to hire Saturday. What is Irsay’s obsession with this grossly underqualified gentleman?

The Colts have narrowed their HC search from 8 candidates to……12 candidates…???

The Colts coaching search is like a TV show that goes on for so many seasons they start introducing new characters just to keep it interesting https://t.co/I7i8zbtnZs

On the other hand, one person did point out something interesting:
I mean you can’t blame a man for being overly thorough in picking his partner after he got left at the altar can you? https://t.co/1Jvpb8QCKq

Remember when Josh McDaniels ended up burning the Colts? Maybe Jim Irsay is trying to avoid that. Nonetheless, Jeff Saturday being an option is a common belief, and things might not end well if that’s the way the Colts go after this unbelievably thorough process.
just hire Saturday we all know you're going to. don't waste the time of other candidates just for show come on https://t.co/NX7r5BJQaG

It's hard to imagine how you could stretch the search this long and still be considering Jeff Saturday unless the search is PR for the hiring of Jeff Saturday https://t.co/TieWpQnNkU
