The Cleveland Browns had a great defense, ranking 14th in points, 1st in yards, 5th in takeaways, 1st in passing, 11th in rushing, and 6th in sacks in 2023. Their defensive line deserves a ton of credit for their dominance.
Their general manager knew that if they wanted to have a great defense line and defense next season, they would have to re-sign one of their free agents, and he did just that.
The Cleveland Browns re-signed their veteran defensive tackle.
Cleveland re-signed Shelby Harris to a 2-year, $9 million contract extension, making him an unrestricted free agent in 2026.

Seattle released Harris on March 14, and Cleveland signed him to a 1-year, $5.25 million contract on August 10.
Harris had a solid 2023 campaign.
Harris had a decent 2023 campaign with 28 tackles, six for a loss, three QB hits, 1.5 sacks, five pass deflections, one forced fumble, a 70.5 PFF Grade, and represented 442 (42%) defensive snaps in 17 games and seven starts. He also had two tackles in the Wild Card.
Clevland’s starting defensive line remains intact.
Cleveland re-signed Za’Darius Smith to an extension as their starting four remains intact for next season. The starting defensive line for 2024 is Za’Darius Smith, Dalvin Tomlinson, Shelby Harris, and Myles Garrett.
