The Denver Broncos had one of the worst pass rushes and run defenses in the league last season, ranking 20th in hits, 29th in pressures, 29th in pressure percentage, 22nd in sacks, and 30th in pass block win rate. They also ranked 30th in rushing yards, 18th in rushing touchdowns, 32nd in yards per attempt, 24th in rushing first downs, and 28th in run-stop win rate.
The Broncos addressed the defensive line by acquiring a defensive lineman from the AFC East.

Franklin-Myers was in the third year of his 4-year, $55 million contract extension he signed in 2021. He was set to have a base salary of $13.3 million, a cap hit of $16.364 million for 2024, a base salary of $14.35 million, and a cap hit of $17.414 million for 2025. Both parties agreed to a contract extension.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Broncos and Franklin-Myers agreed to a two-year, $15 million contract, with a $4 million signing bonus, $8 million fully guaranteed, and a total of $10 million guaranteed.
John Franklin-Myers spent the last five seasons with the New York Jets.
After spending his rookie season with the Los Angeles Rams, the Rams released Franklin-Myers in his second season, and the New York Jets claimed him off waivers. He spent the entirety of his second season on injured reserve but was able to carve out a role in each of his last four seasons.
He had 125 tackles, 21 TFLs, 17.5 sacks, one interception, seven pass deflections, and one forced fumble in 65 games and 52 starts with the Jets.
Where will John Franklin-Myers line up next season?
The Broncos plan on starting Franklin-Myers at defensive end next season, joining these two other starters.
Starter #1: Zach Allen
The Broncos signed Zach Allen to a 3-year, $45.75 million contract last offseason. Allen started in 17 games last season, with 60 tackles, eight TFLs, five sacks, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble.
He will line up on the opposte side of Franklin-Myers. Their other starter will line up in the middle.
Starter #2: D.J. Jones
D.J. Jones signed a 3-year, $30 million contract during the 2022 offseason. Jones has started 31 games in the last two seasons, with 80 tackles, eight TFLs, four sacks, six pass deflections, and three forced fumbles.
He will line up in the middle as the nose tackle.

Does not matter who we get as long as Vance Joseph is the DC. He has never had a even middle of the road ranked defense. Sean Payton made a huge mistake in hiring him back and I just hope he wakes up and swallows his pride and does the right thing before the season starts.
